How to Make a Book Cover Out of a Poster
- 1). Lay the poster out on a hard, flat surface. Keep curled ends flat on the table by placing weights on them so that the poster stays unrolled.
- 2). Place the book on the poster in the opened position. Slide the book around on the poster to find the area on the poster that is most desirable for a book cover.
- 3). Use a marker to make a small line on the poster about 4 inches from the actual book cover. Mark both the length and the width of the book plus the 4-inch margin.
- 4). Take a straight edge ruler and connect the lines to form a rectangle on the poster. Cut the rectangle out with scissors.
- 5). Flip the poster over, so that the graphics are face down on the table. Fold the 4-inch margin along the top and the bottom of the rectangle towards the undecorated, back part of the poster to form a hem.
- 6). Place the book in the center of the rectangle cover, assuring that the book and the graphics on the poster are oriented in the same direction if applicable. For example, if the poster includes words, you want the words in the right-side up position when the book is in the right-side up position.
- 7). Fold the left and right side margins over to the mark you made on the front of the poster.
- 8). Slide the front and back cover into the pocket of the folded poster and close to insure a good fit.
- 9). Secure the front and back cover with a piece of clear adhesive tape at the top and bottom of the folds of the poster.
