How to Change the Default Settings for Shutdown in Windows Vista
- 1). Right-click the Windows "Start" button. In the opened pop-up menu, click "Properties" to open the main configuration window.
- 2). Click the "Start Menu" tab. This tab shows all of your personal settings for the Start menu, including the settings for the "Shutdown" button.
- 3). Select the action you want to set in the drop-down box labeled "Power button action." You can select "Sleep," "Shut Down," "Log off," "Hibernate" or "Restart."
- 4). Click "OK," to save your changes. To view and verify the changes, click the Windows "Start" button again and view the "Shut Down" button's label. The label identifies the action that occurs when you click the button.
