- Many quilts have survived for generations--and yours can too--with the right materials. Quality fabric is the most important ingredient. Always use 100 percent cotton from a reputable manufacturer. Cotton sewing thread is important as well. New needles and a sharp pair of scissors complete the materials needed to create a quilt.
- The most important way to make your quilt top turn out correctly is to measure very carefully. Use a ruler to carefully outline each patch of fabric using a sharp pencil. Alternatively, you can use a rotary cutter and mat. Careful attention to measuring and cutting the fabric ensures that quilt patches turn out uniform.
