How to Become a Boiler Operator
- 1). Meet the minimum requirement of having a high school diploma.
- 2). Complete informal on-the-job training or a formal training or apprenticeship program. An apprenticeship normally lasts four years and consists of approximately 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and 600 hours of classroom instruction.
- 3). Many cities and states have licensing requirements that include being at least 18 years of age, residing in the city or state for a specified time period, passing an exam and having a certain amount of experience. Research the specific requirements for a boiler job in the state where you intend to work.
