How to Reformat a Laptop With Windows XP
- 1). Insert the Windows XP installation disc in your computer's disc drive.
- 2). Restart the computer. Watch for a prompt on the start up screen that says "Press any key to boot from CD." Press any key on the keyboard immediately to move on.
- 3). Press Enter at the "Welcome to Setup" page. Read over the Licensing Agreement on the following page and press F8 to continue.
- 4). Choose the partition in which you want to install Windows XP. If you want to install it on the main hard drive, choose the C: partition. Scroll up and down with the arrow keys to highlight your choice and press Enter to move on.
- 5). Choose the "Format" option on the new page and press Enter. The "Format partition by using the NTFS file system (Quick)" option is generally the fastest and most secure choice, but any other choice will work as well.
- 6). Follow the on-screen directions to finish the Windows XP installation. Restart the computer once you are finished.
