    • 1). Click "Start," then "My Computer."

    • 2). Right click the disk volume you want to defragment and click "Properties," then the "Tools" tab.

    • 3). Click "Defragment Now," then "Defragment." Depending on the size of the disk, this may take a long time, and you can only defragment a single disk volume at a time. When it's finished, your system performance will hopefully have improved.
