How to Easily Take Down Border Wallpaper on a Wall
- 1). Combine hot water and fabric softener in your spray bottle, using a 2:1 ratio of water to fabric softener.
- 2). Spray the solution along one edge of the wallpaper border, coating it with as much of the solution as will stay on the wall, along the whole length of the edge. Let it sit and penetrate three or four minutes, then re-spray.
- 3). Scrape your drywall knife up under the edge of the paper, where it's been softened by the spray. Separate as much of the paper from the wall as you can without tearing it.
- 4). Spray again, this time getting up under the paper where you lifted it with the drywall knife. Let it soak, then work the knife up under it.
- 5). Repeat and continue, work the border wallpaper off the wall little by little, keeping it in one piece. Once you have completely removed the border, sponge down the wall with a damp sponge to remove the excess fabric softener.
