How to Lay Shelf & Liner Paper
- 1). Dust off the surface of the cabinet or shelf with a dusting cloth. Follow with a damp washcloth to remove more soil. If the shelves or cabinets are particularly dirty, use some dish soap and clean them thoroughly with the damp washcloth. Shelf paper will stick better to a clean surface.
- 2). Measure the length of the shelf. Note this length, then measure out the length of the shelf paper you will need; make a mark on the paper with a pencil. Measure the width next and mark this on the shelf paper.
- 3). Place the paper on a smooth surface suitable for cutting. Put on leather gloves.
- 4). Place a ruler or yardstick along the length of the paper to guide cutting so you will cut in a straight line. Use a sharp razor knife for best results.
- 5). Place the ruler or yardstick on the pencil mark for the width. Using the ruler or yardstick to guide you, cut in a straight line.
- 6). Place the paper on the shelf and make sure it is a good fit. Lift up one corner of the paper and separate the paper from the adhesive backing. Align it with the shelf corner.
- 7). Use your hand to flatten the rest of the paper smoothly to the surface as you carefully continue to remove the adhesive backing. When you have adhered the entire piece of paper to the shelf, use a squeegee or your hand to press out any air bubbles.
