Do it Yourself Pine Centerpieces

    Wreath Candleholder

    • Buy an 8-inch, grapevine wreath form. Cut pine branches to the desired length, and stick them into the vines, securing with floral wire if needed. If pine branches are not thick with needles, bunch several together, tie with floral wire, then loop another piece of floral wire into the wreath and through the base of the bunch. Overlap branches or bunches so that the wreath form is not visible. Once the form is completely covered, place it in the center of a table, and then place a pillar candle in the middle of the wreath. If desired, place small citrus fruits, cranberries, nuts (in shells), and other small decorative items at the base of the candle as well.

    Larger Boughs

    • For a long, rectangular table, use large boughs overlapped down the center. Use large garden clippers to cut the pine branches about 3 feet long. Try to cut near the top of the tree, as the lowest growth is the youngest growth, says forestry expert Jay Hayek. Then lay the branches in a slightly offset, zigzag pattern down the center of the table, interspersing them with Christmas tree ornaments, large pieces of fruit or the decor elements of your choice.

    Pine Arrangement

    • Use pine for texture in a vase, along with juniper berries, dusty miller, and other favorite foliage or berries. First, take a vase or bowl and place a block of floral foam (available at crafts stores) in the bottom. Then start poking the block with your foliage, intermingling the various colors and textures to create the look you want.
