How to Make a Gift Basket for a 50th Birthday
- 1). Select a theme. A 50th birthday gift basket can incorporate countless ideas and themes, including items popular the year she was born, "Over the Hill" gifts, 50 of their favorite beauty or health gifts. Decide on your focus before you proceed.
- 2). Collect your gift basket items. It's important to purchase your gifts items before you get your basket so that you can get an appropriately sized basket to accommodate all items. If you decide to do 50 items for the 50th birthday, select smaller items so that you can fit them all in a basket.
- 3). Purchase your basket. For an "Over the Hill" theme basket, try to get a black basket, or else paint one black. If you have large items, select a basket without a handle that will get in the way; smaller items will fit nicely in any medium size basket.
- 4). Personalize your basket by attaching wooden or foam "50" numbers onto the basket with hot glue. You could also paint the year the person was born or phrases onto the basket such as "50 reasons we love you."
- 5). Consider your gift basket filler. Filler is usually tissue paper that will help to decorate and cushion items in the basket. You can also use fabric, or a combination of tissue and ribbons. Look for special tissue paper that has the number "50" on it, or an "Over the Hill" phrase.
- 6). Put it all together. Start with a layer of tissue paper then begin layering in your items. Don't wrap individual items, but simply tuck them into the tissue paper. Insert tissue throughout the presents so that it sticks up in attractive points.
- 7). Wrap the whole basket in colored cellophane. You can get large sheets of colored cellophane for gift baskets from a card or party supply store. Wrapping the gift basket keeps everything in place and creates a more professional appearance. Tie a colorful ribbon with the number "50" over it at the top of the basket.
