Home Security—Are You Vulnerable?
Unfortunately most people are careless with home defense. Luckily, home burglaries and invasions are the most preventable of all crimes.
Home security isn't just about alarm systems. It also includes being aware of the surroundings and maintaining good security habits, such as, always locking doors even if you are at home, not leaving garage door openers visible in cars, and making sure to close and lock windows before going out.
Review the information below and then take action.
The most comprehensive and proven way to deter a home invasion, however, is to install an alarm system. Statistics show that having a wireless home security system reduces crime significantly. Burglars are much less likely to break into a home with a security system. Your children can easily set the alarm once they are home and you have the peace of mind knowing that they are safe. As a mother of a toddler, the alarm beeps when the door is opened – alerting you that your little one has escaped. As a parent of teenagers, once the alarm is set in the evening, if your child sneaks out (I know we don't like to think our children would actually do this!) the alarm will alert you that someone has disarmed the alarm. My oldest child sneaked out with a girlfriend the ONE night I forgot to set the alarm. Security systems keep our homes safer from burglary and home invasion but also include sophisticated fire, carbon monoxide, medical and flood alerts.
