    • 1). Place warm water and a few drops of liquid detergent soap into a spray bottle. Shake well. Spray the solution on all visible ants in and around your home. The soap will kill the black ants and the smell will help repel other ants from entering your home. Use a slightly damp paper towel to wipe and clean areas that were spayed with the solution. Place the paper towel in a garbage can.

    • 2). Sprinkle grits in your bathroom, kitchen and near all entrances in your home to kill all remaining black ants living in your home. Grits, once consumed, will kill the ants by causing their stomachs to swell and expand.

    • 3). Locate the ant colony. You can locate the ant colony by feeding a single ant, preferably with honey, and then following it back to its colony. Black ants build their nest or colony in moist areas such as in dead trees, behind walls and under your home or porch.

    • 4). Pour boiling hot water onto the colony to kill the ants. Do this multiple times per day for at least a week to ensure you kill all ants in the colony.
