    Adaptive Automobile Grants

    • This grant allows disabled veterans with permanent loss of one or both feet, hands or a permanent impairment of vision to receive a one-time grant paid directly to the seller for an adaptive automobile or other conveyance. Other injuries that qualify for this type of grant includes veterans who receive compensation for ankylosis or immobility of one or both knees or hips. The Department of Veterans Affairs advises contacting your local VA office for more information. Use VA Form 21-4502 to apply for this grant and also complete VA Form 10-1394 for approval of equipment not specified on the first form.

Homeless Grant and Per Diem Program

    • The VA provides annual grant funding to communities and agencies that provide housing for homeless veterans. The goal behind the funding is to provide homeless veterans a place to live, help them get jobs and provide support to develop their abilities to become self-motivated and determined. Only organizations that have supportive housing programs up to 24 months or service centers offering veterans the above-mentioned services are eligible for these funds.

    Home Improvement and Structural Alterations

    • Disabled veterans who need to alter their home to accommodate their disability can receive grant funds. This grant applies to those veterans who have already received a medical determination for such an award. Adaptations include the home improvements necessary for disability access, essential handicapped bathroom facilities or other adaptations necessary for the treatment of the veteran's disability. All veterans with a disability may apply, whether the disability is service-connected or not.

    Going Back to School

    • Apply online to find out if you are eligible to receive grant funding under the G.I. Bill. A specially outfitted website provides you a "Road Map to Success" to help you determine the best benefits available to you as a veteran. Veterans with a service-connected disability and disability rating of 20 percent or more are recommended to first determine the benefits available to them under the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment program.
