How to Care for Wheelbarrow Handles
- 1). Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water and 2 to 3 tsp. of liquid dish soap.
- 2). Insert a scrubber sponge into the soap water and wring it out. Scrub the handles of the wheelbarrow well with the sponge to remove any dirt, debris and stains. Rinse the sponge often in the soapy water.
- 3). Rinse the handles off well with a garden hose to remove all traces of the soap from them. Place the wheelbarrow in a sunny area of the yard and allow it to dry completely.
- 4). Feel the wood handles of the wheelbarrow to see if they feel rough and splintered. If so, sand down the handles with a medium-grit sandpaper until they feel smooth.
- 5). Brush off any sanding dust with a clean cloth.
- 6). Apply 1 tbsp. of linseed or tung oil to a clean cloth and rub the oil over each handle to seal and condition it.
