Throwing a Chinese theme party? Just follow these four easy steps for pulling off a successful party for all! 1.
Invitations: Invitations can be a great way to set the tone and expectations of a party.
Therefore by sending an invitation with a Chinese 'feel' to it your guest will immediately know that your party has a theme to it.
It will increase their excitement and anticipation for the event.
To find a wide range of terrific invitation options simply type "Chinese theme invitations" in your search bar.
The next part is the hardest - choosing the one you like best! 2.
Decorations: This is easier than you think.
First of all, red is an important color to the Chinese and represents 'luck' and 'happiness'.
It is often paired with black or gold with either or all color scheme providing a striking décor.
Of course Chinese paper lanterns and paper fans strewn throughout the room lends a wonderfully romantic atmosphere.
If your local party supply store doesn't have these you'll have no problem finding sources on line.
Dramatic yet simple centerpieces stressing the colors red, black and/or gold will add beauty to the room.
You can even dress the part with a Kimono robe, the traditional Chinese dress.
They can be found, quite affordably, from many online sources.
3.
Food: It goes without saying that Chinese food is appropriate for a Chinese theme party.
Dim Sum is a wonderful way to keep with the Chinese theme.
Dim Sum, similar to Spanish Tapas and American appetizers, are the wonderfully small but plentiful servings of different types of dishes served with tea.
If you would prefer a sit down meal (served or buffet style) I always recommend conferring with your favorite Chinese restaurant.
Their experience with large celebrations is vast and they would be a great source as to what would please a crowd.
A lovely touch would be to have personalized chopsticks at every place setting.
Once again, online sources are plentiful and they are relatively inexpensive.
4.
Party Favors: Keeping with the theme there are many possibilities.
There are candles graced with the double happiness symbol or cherry blossoms.
Edible party favors are always a hit and cookies decorated as Chinese take-out containers are great fun; cookies decorated as Cherry Blossoms are more elegant.
You can always make your own Chinese take out favors by filling the containers (found at most craft stores) with candy or other small treat.
