How to Care for Palm Trees After a Freeze
- 1). Apply a fungicide such as liquid copper to the center of the palm tree where the newest leaf emerges. Apply twice with each application, 14 days apart. Use the amount recommended by the fungicide. Also spray around the base of the tree.
- 2). Spray the remaining green leaves with a liquid palm fertilizer. Follow the directions on the palm fertilizer for application rates.
- 3). Prune off the brown branches a few inches from the trunk with your pruning shears. If part of the leaf is green, cut only the brown portion off and leave the rest.
- 4). Apply a freeze-protection spray to your palm if freezing temperatures are forecast again. Once again, follow the directions on the packaging.
