How to Care for Chlorophytum Orchidastrum
- 1). Grow the Chlorophytum orchidastrum in standard potting soil in a pot that allows no more than 2 inches on each side of the root ball.
- 2). Keep the plant in a lightly shaded part of the house, away from bright sunlight. Although the ideal air temperature is 68 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, the plant will tolerate temperatures as low as 65 degrees and as high as 90 degrees.
- 3). Water the soil to provide a constant moisture content similar to that of a well-wrung sponge.
- 4). Apply a 12-4-8 or 9-3-6 fertilizer at half strength once a month. Water the soil before applying the fertilizer.
- 5). Fill the pot slowly and let it drain three times to leach the soil monthly.
- 6). Remove dying leaves by snipping them off at the main stem.
