Dell Optiplex Gx1 Information
- Each form-factor of the GX1 had slightly different measurements. The low-profile model measured 4.3 inches tall, 16.1 inches wide and 17.2 inches deep. The midsized version measured 6.5 inches tall, 16.5 inches wide and 17.5 inches deep. The mini tower model measured 17.5 inches tall, 8.1 inches wide and 17.2 inches deep. The small form factor measured 3.6 inches tall, 12.5 inches wide and 14.9 inches deep. Weight started at 14.5 lbs. for the small form factor model and went as high as 33 lbs. for the mini tower. Power supplies started at 110 watts and came as large as 200 watts.
- Dell offered OptiPlex GX1 models with Intel Pentium II or Intel Pentium III processors. Pentium II processors started with clock speeds of 266 MHz and topped out at 450 MHz. Pentium III processors started at 450 MHz and topped out at 600 MHz. All processors were paired with the Intel 440BX PIIX4e chip set. Base versions of the OptiPlex GX1 came with 32MB of 100 MHz PC100 RAM. Systems supported a maximum of 768MB of RAM.
- An integrated ATI Rage Pro, AGP 2X video card handled graphics on every version of the OptiPlex GX1. Each computer came standard with 4MB of video memory, upgradeable to a maximum of 8MB. The ATI Rage Pro supported video screens at a maximum resolution of 1,600 by 1,200 pixels and with a maximum refresh rate of 85 Hz. A Crystal Semiconductor audio controller handled sound on all versions of the OptiPlex GX1. The audio controller featured one 3.5-mm audio line-in, one 3.5-mm audio line-out and one 3.5-mm microphone input jack.
- The number of available drive bays varied from version to version. Externally, all versions featured at least one 3.5-inch diskette drive bay and one 5.25-inch drive bay for a removable media device like a CD-ROM drive. Internally, each version of the GX1 featured at least one 3.5-inch bay for an internal hard drive. Additional connections and ports available on all versions of the OptiPlex GX1 included two nine-pin serial ports, one 25-pin parallel port, one 15-pin VGA connection, one RJ45 Ethernet port, a pair of PS/2 jacks and two USB 1.1 ports.
