How do I Install Zurn Pipe & Fittings?
- 1). Cut through the PEX tubing with a plastic pipe tubing cutter. Make sure that the cut is straight. Then clean around the cut with fine sandpaper to remove any slight burrs.
- 2). Push a copper crimp ring onto the end of the pipe, pushing it up two inches from the pipe end. Then push the brass fitting into the end of the pipe, so that the pipe pushes all the way up against the shoulder of the fitting. Slide the crimp ring back down towards the brass fitting, with a 1/8-inch clearance between the crimp ring and the brass fitting shoulder.
- 3). Place the crimp ring tool around the crimp ring, and close the crimp ring tool handles together. Then open the handles, and remove the crimp ring tool.
- 4). Place the "go/no go" gage around the crimp ring, to see if it is installed properly. The gage has two slots for the ring to slide into. The crimp ring should slide easily into the "go" slot, and not into the "no go" slot. If either of these things doesn't happen, the tube will have to be cut, the crimp ring removed and installed again.
