For many years now, many people in the medical profession has been advocating the benefits of breast feeding our babies.
It is said that breast milk is the best food for our infants.
However, for one reason or another, all mothers are not able to breast feed their children and some thinks that the next best thing is to feed their babies with the best formula that is on the market today.
While baby formulas can accomplish the task of satisfying our newborns, it is not a substitute for the mother's milk.
The mother's milk contains bodybuilding and body-fighting nutrients that a formula does not contain.
Therefore, let me suggests looking at a breast pump before you consider the baby formulas.
There are three types of breast pumps to choose from and they are electric, battery operated and manual.
With a breast pump, you can effectively transfer the breast milk into a sterilized baby bottle (s).
You can store it in the refrigerator for a maximum of three (3) days, and up to about seven (7) hours at room temperature.
I will admit that some of these pumps can be costly, but if you do a little shopping around, you may be able to find one that you are happy with.
Additionally, in some provinces or states, in order to encourage to breast-feeding, some clinics are providing pumps free of cost or at a minimal cost.
So, before buying one, you can check with your health care provider and see where they stand on this.
I will also recommend that if you opt for an electric one, that you have a "back up plan" just in case you cannot have access to electricity for a short period of time.
