Be Authentic When going on an audition for reality television many people forget not to over act and simply just "be real.
" Casting directors are not looking for actors to fulfill reality television spots.
They are looking for real people with real life personalities, experiences and honest traits to bring to the table and add to the mix.
So when you go on an audition for a reality show remember to be yourself and do not portray a fictitious character composed for the camera alone.
This move will only get you in trouble in the long run for the casting directors will be able to see through this façade hurting your chance of being casted on a reality television show.
Also, directors are curious about your natural response towards various situations and if you are not sincere, then it becomes difficult for the directors to predict a true gauge of success regarding the show.
Thus, hurting your chances even more.
2.
Be Punctual Be punctual is a rule we learn from elementary school, but for unknown reasons this first rule of life seems to slip people's minds when dealing with reality show castings.
A big negative in the industry is filling out your application and sending it past the deadline.
Directors are surprised by how many applicants do not pay attention and fail at the procedure of turning a casting application in on time.
Another nuisance is not showing up when scheduled for an audition.
Casting directors are aggravated for it shows a lack of respect for the process.
It does not leave a good impression decreasing your odds of ever making it past the first rounds of auditions.
3.
Summarize When auditioning for a reality television show you must remember to summarize.
It is common to want to share your entire life story to a casting director, but it is not what a casting director wants.
A casting director will not watch a lengthy auditioning tape or read pages of an auditioning email about why you should be picked for the show.
You need to keep it short, original and fresh.
It is the most successful way to grab a casting director's attention, and ensure the attention stays on you.
4.
Attend Live Casting Calls Chemistry, demeanor and quirky habits cannot be translated electronically and the best way to solve this issue is to attend as many live casting calls as possible.
Live auditions provide directors with the opportunity to emotionally bond with you on a level impossible to achieve via email.
You leave a final impression not present when sending a tape.
It offers directors a chance to interact with you leaving a greater impact than solely sending a written application, video and/or email.
5.
Drama Queens Need Apply Casting directors are looking for life stories with depth, drama, and heartbreak.
They are searching for those who have overcome many obstacles to be present at the audition.
Therefore, if you are someone who has a tragic past or if you are a true result of someone who has triumphed over tragedy, then reveal it.
Write about it in your application, talk about it on your audition video, and relay it to casting directors.
It is not something that is easy to reveal but directors feed off of such information.
Just make sure it is authentic for if it is not, then reality show casting directors will weed you out of the audition process immediately.
