    • The .3g2 file extension is a common multimedia file utilized by cell phones that meets the standards of 3GPP and 3GPP2. A .3g2 file can represent many things, including music, video, broadband television, news feeds or any other streaming multimedia.

    Origin

    • The 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards were based on Apple QuickTime's software which utilized an MPEG-4 standard. Thus .3g2 files can be played back on computers using QuickTime 6.5 and higher as well as on any 3rd generation cellular device that provides multimedia playback.
