How to Troubleshoot a GE Gas Dryer With No Heat
- 1). Check to ensure that the gas valve behind the dryer is in the "Open" position. If the valve is closed, the dryer may run without producing heat.
- 2). Remove the lint trap and clean out the lint trap housing. Clean the lint trap after each load to prevent lint from building up in the lint trap housing in the future.
- 3). Disconnect the exhaust hose from the back of the dryer. Check the hose for kinks or obstructions. Wash out the inside of the exhaust hose to remove lint buildup, if necessary.
- 4). Inspect the outdoor exhaust vent and remove any obstructions such as leaves, bird nests or lint build-up. Check this vent periodically to ensure that it remains clear of obstructions.
- 5). Remove the dryer's bottom toe panel to access the burner assembly. Set the dryer to run a high heat setting and watch the igniter to see if it glows or sparks; the component is faulty if no glowing or sparking is observed. Contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
