How to Oil an Old Sunbeam Mixmaster
- 1). Choose the right kind of oil. You can use a sewing-machine oil, which is available online and in stores like Michael's that sell sewing machines and craft supplies. You can also use a light machine oil.
- 2). Look at the Sunbeam manual that came with your Mixmaster. Chances are you do not have this anymore. If not, there are a few copied manuals for specific models online that are available free and many more sites that sell old manuals for a fee (see Resources). You can also look on eBay. If you don't wish to do this, you can continue on to the next step for general directions on how to oil an old Sunbeam Mixmaster. However, following the manufacturer's directions for your specific model is recommended.
- 3). Oil your motor bearings. There are holes on the top, or head, of your mixer. Put only one drop in the hole on the knob that is sticking up in the front and the one right next to it. For all other holes, place a few drops in each. In addition, your Sunbeam may have a hole on the Mix-Finder dial on the back of the mixer head. Make sure this dial is set to "off" and put a few drops of oil in it.
- 4). Oil the spindle of the bowl disc. Place a few drops of oil under the disc every few months.
