Lucas believes Chloe needs more tests run on her, since her brain has supposedly turned to mush. Chloe insists that Kate knew about the affair, but Lucas still refuses to believe his mom is a killer. She recalls how Kate is the one who gave her an apple the day she got sick. She also reminds Lucas that Kate is the one who provided all the food for the show, and every time she ate something, she got sick.

“Daniel sent those apples! He’s the one that gave them to you!” points out Lucas. He reminds Chloe that Daniel wrote out the prescription for the drug which was found in his apartment. “Oh, and your mother is not smart enough, not devious enough to plant evidence?” interjects Chloe. Lucas doesn’t believe his mother would go that far. Chloe adamantly insists that it makes a hell of a lot more sense than Daniel trying to kill her. “What if Kate got to him too?” she fears.

Lucas rants how sick he is of talking about her dumb fantasies, predicting that when the police arrest Daniel, he’ll to go jail for attempted murder. “But he’s innocent!” protests Chloe. He recites the list of evidence the police have, including the prescription Daniel wrote, the drugs found in his apartment, and the phone call Chloe made to Maggie. “What phone call?” questions a confused Chloe. Lucas recalls how Chloe called Maggie before the taping of the show and said Daniel was threatening her. Chloe insists that it never happened (since it was an edited recording by Kate) and refers to the phone call as crazy.

She admits she was absolutely mean to Daniel the day they were going to tape the show because she was trying to hide how she truly felt. She expresses how sorry she is, but in the end, she gave into her true feelings. Lucas vows to make sure the doctor will spend the rest of his life in prison. “Daniel didn’t do anything wrong!” she emphasizes.

Chloe believes that Kate poisoning her is the only thing that makes sense, reminding Lucas that his mom would do anything for him. She insists that she needs to go find Daniel, but Lucas pushes her back in bed and tells her not to be ridiculous, believing her muscles are way too weak. Chloe begs Lucas to help her find Daniel and help him. “Help you find your boyfriend? I’m your husband, damn it!” responds an angry Lucas. “Lucas, your mother’s going to kill him!” shouts a worried Chloe.

At the Motel

Daniel is still tied to the bed. He manages to remove his gag and vows to make Kate pay after he finds Chloe. He manages to pull himself free from one of the ropes, but begins to feel dizzy and falls back down on the bed.

DiMera Mansion

Kate shows up at the DiMera mansion and tells Stefano with desperation in her eyes that she needs his help, and he’s her only hope. They come inside, where Stefano hands her a Scotch and suggests a nice game of chess. He encourages her to join him and tell him everything. She confesses that she’s done something, and if she doesn’t get help, her life will turn into one long nightmare. “Because you poisoned your son’s wife, and framed Dr. Jonas for it,” he concludes to a stunned Kate. She continues to play chess with Stefano and admits that she got a little overconfident, and now Daniel is a loose end and he can’t stay tied up forever.

Stefano is impressed to hear that Kate overpowered Daniel, tied him up, and left him in a motel room. Kate wonders what Stefano expected her to do, stating that she wasn’t going to call the police and let Daniel play her taped confession. She confirms that she’s destroyed the incriminating evidence, but there still might be other evidence. Stefano wonders why she didn’t go to Victor for help. Kate states that Daniel is Victor’s godson, and Victor thinks the sun rises and sets on Daniel. Stefano doesn’t believe that Victor will turn in Philip’s mother to the police. “No, but he’s not gonna to lift a finger to help me either,” desponds Kate. Stefano refers to Victor as a stupid fool. Kate confesses that Victor knows what she’s done, but insists that she wouldn’t be there if she didn’t need Stefano’s help. “Will you help me?” she asks. “Check,” he responds after moving some chess pieces around.

Stefano admits that he’s not only flattered that “Katherine” came to him for help, but he’s also moved in a strange sort of way. He recalls how angry she was at him when they talked last. She reminds him that it’s because he ordered her son to be murdered. She grows impatient and warns him that time is running out for her, and things could get a lot worse very quickly. He assures her that he’ll help her for a non-negotiable price. He then chuckles before taking her queen chess piece. “The queen. I’ve captured her,” he implies.

Kate agrees to his terms and knows he’ll do whatever needs to be done. He reminds her how he feels about her, stating that they understand each other on an intimate level, intellectually speaking. Kate warns that Daniel can only stay tied up for so long and wants to make sure things are cleaned up at the motel. “Check mate, my dear,” he says, before suggesting they go take care of her “little problem.”

E.J., Nicole, and Sydney return home, where he proceeds to go find his father and tell him what they’re doing. E.J. admits that he’s worried about Stefano, since he’ll be there on his own. He proceeds to go find Stefano and will meet her in a minute. Nicole picks Sydney up and tells her that she and Daddy are going to take her on a trip, but Daddy doesn’t know that they’re never coming back.

Nicole has changed clothes and is packed up. E.J. notes how she’s packed a lot of things, and Nicole eagerly claims she just wants to be prepared for the change in weather. After he walks out, Nicole remarks how she’ll miss the old mansion, then blows a kiss before leaving.

Back at the Motel

Stefano and Kate arrive and discover that Daniel has escaped. Kate flies off the handle and screams that he’s gone. She berates herself for not injecting Daniel when she had the chance, fearing he could be in Chloe’s hospital room or on his way to the police. Stefano makes a call and tries to assure Kate that he’ll take care of Dr. Jonas for her.
