How to Hang a Baby Shower Clothes Line
- 1). Choose a clothesline in a color matching other baby shower decorations. If the clothesline will be used outside after the baby shower, choose a weatherproof material for longer wear.
- 2). Choose clothespins to hang baby clothes from the clothesline. They come in a variety of colors and can be chosen to match the clothesline and other baby shower decorations. Wooden clothespins can be painted and designed to match the nursery theme. They can also be used to decorate tables and hold balloons or party favors.
- 3). Find a poem or personalize a note to hang with the baby clothes on the clothesline. The poem or note will explain the purpose of the clothesline and add a sentimental touch that can be a keepsake for the baby book.
- 4). Locate two sturdy objects to tie the ends of the clothesline to such as pillars, rafters, hanging plant hooks or cabinet handles. Keep in mind the objects should be at a higher elevation to allow the clothesline to hang comfortably above a decorated table or the heads of guests.
- 5). Measure the length between the two objects. Cut the clothesline with scissors or a utility knife, adding an extra 12 to 18 inches on each side to allow for tying and adjustments.

Wrap the end of the clothesline around the first object. Cross the shorter end underneath the clothesline. Then bring the end around and drop it through the hole. This is called a half hitch. - 2). Make an "extra turn." Bring the end of the clothesline around again and drop it through the same hole.
- 3). Make another half hitch by bringing the end of the clothesline around again. Instead of dropping it into the same hole, bring it around in front of the two loops you previously made. Pull to tighten.
- 4). Hang the baby clothes on the clothesline. Arrange them from smallest to largest. Bibs, socks and booties can also be hung to fill in any gaps.
- 5). Adjust the clothesline. The weight of the clothes may make the clothesline sag too low. Slide the knot along the clothesline to adjust its length to meet your needs.
