There are any number of ways churches can use the Thanksgiving holiday as a theme for bulletin boards. For example, they can remind members why we celebrate the Thanksgiving and encourage them to remember the things they're grateful for. Thanksgiving is also about helping the less fortunate. Bulletin boards are a way to let church members know how they can serve others, for example, by volunteering at a soup kitchen or nursing home. - Take photos of church members weeks before Thanksgiving and ask them what they have to be thankful for. Use photos and quotes for a bulletin board display under the title "We're Grateful For...." Stick to a seasonal color scheme and use rich autumn colors like red, orange and gold. Use the bulletin board to introduce church members to one another.
- Come up with a community-service theme. Encourage church members to share their harvest bounty with others. Talk to local charities to see if they need donations or volunteers on Thanksgiving. Post these volunteer opportunities on your bulletin board, with information on the charity, location, date and time. Include a sign-up sheet.
- Use your bulletin board for stories about those your church has helped in some way. Highlight under the title "Thank you, (your church's name)." Feature a story about families your church "adopted" for Christmas with photos and thank-you notes or a story on a hospital patient thankful for the congregation's prayers and support. Give those you've helped the chance to show their gratitude on Thanksgiving.
