Silk Orchids
There are over 30,000 types of orchids, and almost four times as many orchid hybrids. Because the natural orchid flowers have so many distinct variations, their silk counterparts are also as numerous. One of the defining features of an orchid is the semi-symmetrical patterns of leaves. With orchids, all of the petals and the flowers center are exposed. They incorporate stunning combinations of colors and employ a semi-symmetrical design, like their leaves. One caution when using orchids in your flower arrangements: make them the leading flower in your layout. One beautiful way to design these flowers is to let them hang over the edges of a beautiful vase. Another is to place them as the centerpiece of an arrangement, with various greenery encircling them. Orchids most commonly employ two to three strong, bright, contrasting colors (such as white and purple or yellow, orange, and black). However, among the 100,000+ varieties available, there are orchids in just about every shade imaginable. Another plus to this family of flowers is that they can be used in decorations for any time of year.
Flower Color Coordination for Arrangements
Whether the flowers in your floral arrangement are real or artificial, having the right blend of colors makes a big difference in overall appearance. If you stop by a flower shop and study how colors are synchronized in your favorite floral designs, you will gain some ideas of how you want your own floral arrangements to look. If you prefer, you can also use the Internet to explore different floral arrangement ideas. Floral arrangements can be put together using one of two strategies. The first is a natural arrangement, which coordinates similar regional or seasonal flowers. The goal here is to recreate the feeling of being in a field of flowers. The next type of arranging is shape and color coordination. This style is commonly found at events, like weddings, and other celebrations. When using this strategy, choose multiple tints of one color for the design.
Artificial Palm Trees
Most people, when they think of artificial trees, think of a pine tree or Christmas tree. If there was one example to break the mold of this silk tree pattern, it would be the palm tree. The palm tree not only looks very different from the Christmas tree, it seems to belong to a totally different season and has a very different feel. There are hundreds and hundreds of different styles of palm trees; the same goes with silk palm trees. The most common silk palm tree is a tall, perfect replica of an outdoor palm tree, complete with coconuts if desired. When designing or planning to put a palm tree in your home, it is important to note the circumference of the leaves. Most people are surprised to find out how large the palm trees circumference is, and may have to rearrange the room to provide enough space for it. Smaller palm trees are usually sufficient when decorating inside the home.
