How to Choose a Toilet Seat
- 1). Check the shape of your toilet bowl. Toilets come in two shapes: round and oblong. Round toilet seats measure 16 ½ inches, while oblong seats measure 18 ½ inches.
- 2). Decide on the toilet seat material you want. There are two options for this: wood or plastic. That is, of course, unless you are wealthy and purchase a gold, silver, platinum or pearl toilet seat. Generally, wood is a heavier seat and plastic is less expensive.
- 3). Choose the color of the toilet seat. This should match your décor. You don't want to put an orange toilet seat in a Victorian-style bathroom. A better option would be white or cream.
- 4). Think about features. Some toilet seats have a cushion and others feature a silent close. Some feature a lid while others don't. Deciding what features are important to you can expedite your hunt for a toilet seat.
