How to Install Wireless Network Settings Using a USB Flash Drive

    • 1). Configure and secure your network. Click the "Start" button and select "All Programs." Click "Accessories," "Communications" and then "Wireless Network Setup Wizard." Click "Next" and type a name for your network in the Network Name (SSID) box. Choose "Automatically Assign a Network Key" to secure a key for your network. Click "Use WPA Encryption" to assign WPA encryption. Select "Next" to go to the next step on the setup wizard.

    • 2). Transfer your network settings to the USB flash drive. Select "USB Flash Drive (Recommended)" to use the flash drive. Select "Next" and insert your flash drive in the USB port of your computer. Follow the step-by-step onscreen instructions to transfer your network settings to the flash drive on your computer.

    • 3). Follow the wizard's onscreen directions and remove the flash drive from the computer. Plug the USB flash drive into the USB port on your router and wait for the lights to blink three times to complete configuration with the wireless network settings. Remove the flash drive from the router.

    • 4). Transfer the network settings to other computers. Plug the USB flash drive into computers on your wireless network. Watch for the wireless adapter on the computer to blink three times to show the computer has accepted the configuration. Click "Accept" to join the wireless network on each computer.

    • 5). Remove the USB device from each computer after installation. Plug the flash drive back into the original computer running the Wireless Network Setup wizard to finalize the network setup. Follow the instructions on screen to install the network settings to the computer. Click "Finish" to apply the settings and exit.
