How to Install a G4 Airport Card
- 1). Place a soft cloth on a work surface. Close the lid of the PowerBook G4 and put it face down on the soft cloth. Insert a coin into the battery slot and twist it till the battery pops out. Remove the battery and set it aside.
- 2). Remove the screws from inside of the battery compartment with a Torx screwdriver. Remove the screws from the bottom using the Torx screwdriver.
- 3). Open the lid of the PowerBook G4 and place the LCD screen against the soft cloth with the keyboard section of the PowerBook G4 hanging over the edge of the table.
- 4). Remove the bottom case from the PowerBook G4 by pulling it up from the bottom and moving it away from you. Take care not to disturb the hinge holding the LCD display to the keyboard section.
- 5). Remove the antenna plug from the socket on the Airport card inside of the PowerBook G4. Release the metal latch over the Airport card. Pull the Airport card out from beneath the metal latch. Discard the Airport card.
- 6). Place the new Airport card beneath the metal latch. Replace the latch and reattach the antenna. Replace the bottom case onto the bottom of the PowerBook G4 then reattach the screws to the bottom with the Torx screwdriver.
- 7). Lift up the PowerBook G4 and close the lid. Place the PowerBook G4 face down on the soft cloth. Reattach the screws inside of the battery compartment with the Torx screwdriver. Push the battery into the battery compartment until it clicks into place. Flip the PowerBook G4 right side up and open the lid. Turn the PowerBook G4 on and access your home network wirelessly now that you have installed the Airport card.
