How to Remotely Enable File & Printer Sharing

    • 1). Click "Start," then "All Programs" and select "Accessories." Select "Remote Desktop Connection" from the list. The Remote Desktop Connection window will open.

    • 2). Type the name of the computer you want to remotely connect to in the box next to "Computer." Click the "Connect" button. Type the user name and password in the "Log On to Windows" window of the connected computer.

    • 3). Click "Start," then "Control Panel" and click "Network and Internet" from the list of options. Click "Network and Sharing Center," then click "Change advanced sharing settings" on the left pane of the window.

    • 4). Click the check box next to "Turn on file and printer sharing" in the "File and printer sharing" section. Click the "Save Changes" button.
