- 1). Decide what it is that you want to say about the beach on your poster. If you want to draw attention to the amount of trash on the beach, for example, the poster will be very different than if you're featuring a beach vacation. Also thing about your audience. Plan text as well as visual information you will use.
- 2). Make some rough sketches of your ideas. Going back to the idea of drawing attention to the trash on the beach, you might feature a close up of the trash juxtaposed with how the beach looks from far away. Try to express your visual ideas in rough form first. It'll give you an idea of how your concept will work in the final stages.
- 3). Take photos of the beach or beaches you want to feature in the poster. You can always delete ones you don't like, so take more than you think you need.
- 4). Upload your beach photos and store them in a specific folder. Use the equipment that came with your camera to upload the photos, following the instructions provided.
- 5). Open up Microsoft Publisher. Choose the poster option from the design template. To find this, go the left-hand side of the work area on your desktop. Look for "Blank Publications." Name your file and save it in the designated file folder.
- 6). Import your photos into the document by going to "Insert" > "Picture" > "From File". Go to your beach poster file.
- 7). Adjust the size of your beach photos by clicking on the photo. When the resize knobs appear on the corners and the sides of the picture, click on the "Control" key and your mouse at the same time. While keeping the "Control" key held down, move your mouse in an inward or outward direction until your photos become the size you want.
- 8). Add text to your beach poster by clicking on the text box--the icon with the "A" in it to the left on your menu. Your mouse's cursor will change, giving you the option of drawing a text box. Make the text box and type your message directly into it.
- 9). Save your work, then print out the beach poster.
