There are a few options available for the treatment of cellulite.
Studies have been conducting comparing the effectiveness of the many treatments showing the effectiveness of many of the options.
For instance, while there are yet to be published reports, studies have indicated that Thermage, which is typically used to treat wrinkles or sagging skin, may be effective in treating cellulite as well.
Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin and tighten it.
The review appeared in Clinics in Dermatology.
Cellulite can be an embarrassing condition due to its outward appearance.
It often appears lumpy and dimply and many attribute it as being similar to cottage cheese's texture.
It is described as fat deposits that become trapped under the skin.
The fat deposits are squeezed so they appear as lumpy and dimply on the skin's surface.
Genetics, skin type, age and the amount of body fat you have may contribute to cellulite.
A lack or exercise or poor diet are possible causes as well.
Many recommend exercising and dieting to prevent fat from coming back.
Even if treatment is successful, cellulite may still come back if the fat returns, so adopting a healthy lifestyle is important.
Before adopting a nutrition or exercise program, though, it is important to speak to the appropriate doctor to make sure that you are healthy enough for exercise and that your diet is healthy.
The Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy published an article that indicates VelaSmooth may be an effective treatment for cellulite.
This treatment combines bipolar RF energy, infrared light, suction and mechanical suctions that massage to produce results.
About five or six sessions are needed to begin to see results, although this varies from one patient to the next.
Sessions are typically performed twice per week and monthly maintenance treatments may be recommended to maintain results.
It typically takes 45 minutes to an hour to perform one session of VelaSmooth.
Mesotherapy is another treatment for cellulite that is best described as a cocktail of different homeopathic and traditional medicines, as well as vitamins.
The treatment is injected into the middle layer of the skin, also called the mesoderm.
Because the solution used may vary, the vitamins, minerals and medicines must be approved by the FDA.
Mesotherapy has been effective for the treatment of cellulite, although it has also received criticism because the solution varies and is hard to regulate.
Ask your doctor what is in the injection before receiving treatment.
