How to Use the Print Screen Function on a Keyboard
- 1). Locate the key that reads 'PRTSC/SYSRQ' on your keyboard. This key will be on the very top row, in the last right quadrant. On a standard keyboard, the Print Screen key lies between the F12 key and the 'PAUSE/BREAK' key.
- 2). Press the Print Screen key. Once you have identified a page that you wish to capture and print, you will initiate the Print Screen function. But, when you press the Print Screen key you will notice that, oddly, nothing happens. Of course, something does happen, but you won't be aware of it until you reach the next few steps.
- 3). Next, open up your word processor. You can use your WordPad, which is located in the Microsoft Windows 'Accessories' tab, or if you prefer, a more advanced word processor such as Microsoft Word or Works.
- 4). Drag your mouse up to the edit tab on the top toolbar, slide down and click 'Paste'. You will discover that you did indeed perform a screen capture, and it now is showing up in your word-processing document.
- 5). Resize the new Print Screen image that appears within your word processor's document by clicking on the corners and dragging the arrows until the image is the size that you want it to be. You can then drag your mouse up to the top toolbar and click 'File'. Next, slide down to 'Print Preview' to view how your image will look before printing.
- 6). Move your cursor back up to the 'File' tab and click. Slide your mouse down to 'Print' and click. Your printer will now print out the screen capture.
