How to Word Invitations for Surprise Baby Showers

    • 1). Announce that the shower is a surprise in the opening or heading of the baby shower invitation so guests won't miss it later in the card. For example, write, "Shh! It's a surprise baby shower for..." instead of the traditional, "It's a baby shower for..."

    • 2). Include the name of the mother- or father-to-be and the date, time and location of the surprise party.

    • 3). Add the host's name. For multiple hosts, list the name of the person hosting the party at her home first.

    • 4). Ask guests to RSVP, and include where the expectant mother is registered.

    • 5). Close the invitation with a reminder that the baby shower is a surprise in case someone missed it in the heading. For example, use wording like, "Remember! It's a surprise."
