How to Reset My SmarterMail Primary Admin Password
- 1). Access the SmarterMail folder on your computer, which is located in the "SmarterTools" folder in "Program Files" on your hard drive by default. You can open "Program Files" by opening "Computer" from the "Start" menu.
- 2). Double-click the "Service" folder under the "MRS" folder. Scroll down to "mailConfig." Right-click the file, click "Open With" and select "Notepad" from the list of available programs. Ensure that you click the original "mailConfig" file, as there is a backup file as well, titled "mailConfig_bak."
- 3). Click "Edit" followed by "Find." Type "System admin." Notepad will highlight "System Admin." Under "System Admin," you will see "<systemAdminPassword>" followed by your password. Highlight the entire line of text and press "Backspace." Make sure you highlight all the text, not just your password.
- 4). Click "File" followed by "Save." The next time you start your SmarterMail service, enter "Admin" as both the username and password. You can then change the password once the SmarterMail service loads.
