How to Add a Shared Folder in OSX?
- 1). Click on your user ID icon and enter your password to log into your Mac computer running OS X. In a few minutes, the computer will call up your files and then you can add a new shared folder.
- 2). Click on the apple icon at the top left corner of the screen then scroll down and select "System Preferences."
- 3). Click on the "Sharing" folder under the "Internet & Wireless" tab (for some Mac users this will read "Internet & Network" or "Internet"). This looks like a gray folder with a yellow diamond on it.
- 4). Highlight the "File Sharing" option, then click the box to the left of those words to turn on file sharing for your Mac. By default, the "Public" folder on your hard drive is shared, but you can add other folders.
- 5). Click the plus sign below the box that says "Shared Folders" to add a new folder. This opens a dialog box that allows you to choose from any folder currently on your computer.
- 6). Scroll through your files until you find the folder you want to share. Highlight the folder then select the "Add" button. The folder now moves to the list of shared folders. Repeat this process to add additional folders.
- 7). Click on the golden lock at the bottom left of the "Sharing" box to save your selections. Then click the red button to close the "Sharing" window.
