How to Get Rid of Underground Moles

    • 1). Locate an active burrow. To do this, collapse a small section of the burrow (marked by overturned dirt) with your foot. Wait 24 to 48 hours to see if the burrow is repaired. If it is, the burrow is active.

    • 2). Position a trap inside the active burrow. Traps, which can be purchased at most home and garden stores, come in three types: scissor-jaw, harpoon and choker loop. Follow the printed instructions on the trap to determine how to position it (some traps straddle the burrows, others sit inside them).

    • 3). Wait 24 to 48 hours and then check the trap. If the trap is empty, position it in a different active molehill.

    • 4). Install a mesh fence around your property. The mesh fence should extend at least two feet beneath the land surface. The fence will decrease the chances of moles invading your property in the future.
