How to Make Pine Garland

    • 1). Harvest branches from pine trees around your yard or in the wooded areas around your home. Make sure to cut branches from several different trees, so not to create a hole in any one tree.

    • 2). Cut a piece of sisal or manila rope to your desired length. The length of your rope will ultimately determine the length of your pine garland. Sisal or manila rope is sturdy and made of natural fibers that will blend well with your pine garland. A medium-weight rope is sufficient for use as a stabilizer for your pine garland.

    • 3). Gather a cluster of two or three pine branches and tie their stems together with florist wire. Florist wire comes in several shades; choose one that will blend well with your pine garland. For instance, green or brown will be less noticeable than silver or copper florist wire.

    • 4). Attach the cluster of pine branches with florist wire approximately three inches from the edge of one end of the rope; the leaves of the pine branch should overhang the edge of the rope.

    • 5). Assemble a second cluster of pine branches and attach it to the rope just above the first cluster. The stems of the second cluster should be attached to the rope with the florist wire and its leaves should slightly overlap the stems of the cluster below it.

    • 6). Continue the process of assembling two or three pine branches into a cluster, tying their stems with florist wire and attaching them to the rope, until the entire length of rope is completely covered with pine.
