Fun Places for Youth Groups
- All-day youth group activities take place in amusement parks, zoos and malls, which provide enough variety to take up long periods of time. For example, an amusement park or water park has activities for an entire day because of the number of rides and games. As with any youth-group trip, it's important to keep everyone in small groups to decrease the chance of someone getting lost.
- Overnight youth group activities not only provide a fun activity, but also time to bond. You can go to a campground or stay at the church for "watch night." Play games, watch movies and eat fun foods. For example, set up a campsite at a park. Roast marshmallows, have scavenger hunts and tell stories. The participants sleep in tents overnight.
- Places like bowling alleys, parks, movies theaters, arcades and outdoor food establishments make good places for youth groups to congregate for two or three hours. All these locations provide activities for the youth group members. For example, take the youth group to a park for a sack lunch. After eating at the park, go to a movie theater to watch a movie. Afterwards, meet back at the park to talk about the movie or discuss a lesson.
- While in the classroom, youth groups need something to do. Crafts and games fulfill this need. The crafts can reflect a lesson, like making small Christmas gifts for others or sewing teddy bears for children. The youth group kids can also make crafts for fun, such as ornaments or door signs. Putting together care packages and donation baskets also fall into this category of activities. Adapt almost any party game to the youth group. For example, rather than play hide and seek, have one person hide. Everyone else has to find them. When someone finds the hidden person, he joins him or her in the hiding place. Play until everyone is in the hiding spot. This game works well in a large building, such as a church.
