How to Mount a Local Drive
- 1). Turn off your computer and remove the power cable.
- 2). Remove the side of your computer case.
- 3). Slide your hard drive into a hard drive slot located at the front of your computer case.
- 4). Mount the drive to your computer case. Your hard drive is secured to your case via the two screws that come with your hard drive.
- 5). Insert the IDE or SATA connector to the back of your hard drive. If you are using a SATA connector, connect the other end to an available SATA port on your motherboard. If you are using an IDE cable, connect an empty port to the back of your drive. IDE cables will be extending from your other hard drives and CD ROM drives.
- 6). Connect a four-pin power connector to the back of your hard drive.
- 7). Replace the side of your computer case and the power cord.
- 8). Turn on your computer and confirm the drive has been detected.
