Center a Hot Wheels party around the popular toy cars. More than 15 million boys ages 5 to 15 collect Hot Wheels cars, according to Mattel. The toy company estimates that it sells two Hot Wheel cars every second. Set the stage for your party with street signs showing the way to the food, games and presents. Wave a checkered flag to start activities and hand out trophies and Hot Wheels cars as party favors.

    Decorations

    • The decorations for a Hot Wheels party double as part of the activities for young guests. Cover the tables with a black plastic tablecloth and add a strip of yellow duct tape down the center to represent a roadway. Place a remote control car in the center. Let the guests play with the centerpiece later, but keep the remote out of reach while you're serving food on the table. A car-shaped pinata also serves as a table decoration until you hoist it up to let the guests take their turns playing with it. Hang racing pennants on the door frames along with red, blue and yellow balloons.

    Car Crafts

    • Use copy paper boxes or other sturdy boxes to build super-sized toy cars. Cut out the bottom, cut handles on the sides and attach a windshield to the front, made from cardboard covered with aluminum foil. Spray paint the car and add a race number if desired. Glue black paper plates to the box to represent the car tires. You can also create stop signs and other traffic signals with paper towel tubes, cardboard and duct tape.

    Activities

    • Time for the guests to play with Hot Wheels cars is a highlight of a Hot Wheels party. Set up a Hot Wheels race track for the kids, or use plastic or carpet play mats. You can also provide party guests with sidewalk chalk and let them draw their own roadways on the driveway.

Purchase inflatable tires or hang a tire from a tree to use as a target for a toss game. Let the guests practice their aim with a game throwing tennis balls though the hole in the tire.

Rent an inflatable race car bouncing house from a party center and set it up in your yard, but don't let the party guests bring any toy cars into the bounce house. Stray toys can hurt other kids or puncture the inflatable.

    Thank You Notes

    • Make custom party driver's licenses to enclose with thank you notes. Take a digital photo of each party guest. After the party, use a computer program to create a license for each guest with his photo. Cover the front and back of the licenses with clear contact paper and mail them with thank you notes from your child.
