My Toshiba Laptop Battery Won't Recharge
- 1). Turn the laptop off. Remove the power adapter. Turn the laptop upside down and place on a flat surface in front of you. Slide the battery lock to the side and hold in place with one hand. Lift the battery from the battery bay with your other hand. Release the battery lock.
- 2). Inspect the battery. If you see any large dings, dents on the battery or signs of damage or corrosion to the battery contacts, the battery needs replacement.
- 3). Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol. Clean the battery contacts on the battery and the battery bay to remove dirt and dust. Dust can interfere with the charging process.
- 4). Place the battery back into the laptop. It will just pop back into place.
- 5). Attempt to charge the battery. Plug the AC adapter into the computer for 12 hours.
- 6). Remove the AC adapter. Turn the computer on. If the laptop does not power on, the battery is dead.
