What Kills Roaches Fast?
- Cockroach baiting is an effective way of eradicating a cockroach infestation. The process involves making a 'food mixture' for the roaches, consisting of white flour, granulated white sugar and powdered boric acid. A mixture of these three ingredients in equal measures creates a substance that will attract cockroaches, and kill them once they come into contact with it. Place the mixture in a variety of places that are accessible to cockroaches and continue to use the mixture until sightings of cockroaches stop.
- There are two main types of traps used to catch cockroaches. Sticky traps are a very effective way of catching cockroaches inside buildings and do not require the use of toxic chemicals. Sticky traps can be bought ready to use, and then placed in places like under the kitchen sink, behind the refrigerator and other areas where cockroaches have been sighted. Once the cockroaches enter the trap they cannot escape and will die. Another type of trap that you can make yourself requires a jar, Vaseline, and some food ready for the trash. Rub some Vaseline around the inside at the top of the jar, place the old food inside the jar and wrap paper around the outside so the cockroaches can climb up. The food draws in the roaches and the Vaseline stops them from getting out. Pouring hot water and liquid soap into the jar will quickly kill any cockroaches inside. Put these in the same place as sticky traps.
- Insecticide dusts are an effective way of killing many cockroaches in one swoop, especially if it is applied directly to the area where the cockroaches are living. This is sometimes possible if the location is known and there is access to it, even if it is a slight crack or void that is big enough for the cockroaches to crawl through. The dust is so fine that it can access these types of areas, and it stays effective at killing cockroaches for a long time as long as it does not get wet.
- Insecticide aerosols are probably the fastest way of killing cockroaches, as long as they are not fast enough to run away in time. If a cockroach is spotted, a liberal spray of insecticide aerosol will kill it almost immediately. The cockroaches will evacuate if an infested area is sprayed so it may be difficult to directly spray each insect. One drawback of insecticide aerosol is that is has no residual effects, so is best combined with another cockroach eradication method to ensure complete elimination of the pest.
