How to Propagate a Weeping Norway Spruce
- 1). Wait until the spring and walk around the yard to find a location that has well-drained soil and full sunlight. The soil type does not matter since the weeping Norway spruce will grow in a variety of pH levels including acidic and alkaline soil.
- 2). Remove all weeds and existing vegetation from the area by pulling them out with your hands.
- 3). Loosen the soil to a 2-inch depth using a a bow rake.
- 4). Spread the weeping Norway spruce seeds over the prepared soil, spacing them at distances of approximately 4 to 5 feet apart. If desired, you can plant the seeds closer and weed some out once they germinate.
- 5). Cover the seeds with topsoil, or rake the area with the bow rake to ensure that the seeds are covered with at least 1/2 inch of soil.
- 6). Water the soil until it is completely saturated. Thereafter, water the soil as often as needed to keep the surface constantly moist, but not soggy, until the seeds germinate.
