How to Remove Half the Lamps in a Fluorescent Fixture
- 1). Examine the fluorescent fixture and identify two adjacent tubes that run off the same ballast. You will remove two tubes from the same ballast.
- 2). Stand facing the light fixture, with the bulbs running lengthwise in front of you. Grip one of the tubes firmly, but not too tightly -- you don't want to crack the tube.
- 3). Rotate the tube 90 degrees toward you. If the bulb does not move easily and twist out of the fixture, try rotating it away from you. Don't twist too hard. Easy pressure is best.
- 4). Repeat the procedure in Step 3 for the second tube on that ballast.
