    Electric Coil

    • Electric coil stovetops plug into electrical outlets and are distinguished by the coil design of the burners.

    Electric Ceramic

    • Electric ceramic stovetops have a smooth, flat ceramic surface in which each burner lights up with a red light when that particular burner is on. These stoves also plug into electrical outlets.

    Gas

    • Gas stovetops are attached to gas lines, and the burners are heated with individual flames.

    Countermount

    • Countermounted stovetops are set directly into a countertop; they are completely separate from the baking portion of the oven. Countermounted stove tops are available in either gas or electric versions.

    Slide-In

    • Slide-In ranges are built with a completely flat top, with all the indicators and controls set on the front of the device so that the stovetop will be set in a flush line with the rest of the countertops. As the name indicates, these ovens simply slide into place between existing cabinetry and are available in electric or gas stovetop options.
