How to Decorate for Christmas With Sinamay Mesh

    Wreaths

    • Sinamay mesh can be used to make inexpensive but pretty Christmas wreaths. A work wreath should be used as the base; it has the wire frame of a wreath with pairs of tinsel wire tips that are placed around an inner and outer circle of wire. Gather the sinamay mesh and secure it to the wreath by placing it in between two pieces of tinsel wire, then twisting the wires around each other like a twist tie. Do the same thing all around the wreath until all of the pairs of tinsel wire have been used to secure the sinamay mesh.

    Christmas Tree Decor

    • Sinamay mesh can be gathered and tied to branches of a Christmas tree in much the same way it was attached to a wreath. If you have a live tree, use pieces of tinsel wire or craft wire to attach the gathered mesh. The mesh will let light pass through, so add the sinamay mesh after you've added your other decorations and lights. Make sure to use LED lights to reduce the likelihood of fire.

    Bows

    • Make bows with any size width of sinamay mesh. The wider the sinamay mesh you use, the larger your bow will be. Make any kind of bow, such as a florist bow, but a simple bow with long tails is perfectly adequate. Bows can be used to decorate trees, wreaths, or walls.

    Garland

    • Add sinamay mesh to a garland in much the same way that you added it to a Christmas tree. Use sinamay mesh as a garland on its own: Wrap it around a banister or rail, securing the ends with a ribbon or piece of wire. You can also hang it by gathering it every foot or so, securing the gather with a piece of ribbon or wire, then hanging the garland by the gathers.
