How to Make a Pumpkin Costume From a T-Shirt
- 1). Make a 1-inch vertical slice along the right side seam of the shirt. Feed the elastic through the pouch created by the hem. Leave tails poking out of the two openings in the cut seam. You will use the tails to draw the bottom opening of the costume closed after your child is dressed.
- 2). Allow your child to cut the pumpkin's eyes, nose and mouth from black felt. Use black thread and a needle to attach the facial features to the front of the t-shirt. The features should be large and spread out.
- 3). Attach several faux leaves to the top of a ski cap with green thread.
- 4). Dress your child in green tights or leggings. These will keep his legs warm and offer much-needed coverage.
- 5). Slip the T-shirt over your child's head with the jack-o-lantern face in front. Crumple up newspaper and stuff it under the shirt until it is round on all sides. Draw the elastic tight around the bottom of the costume, and tie it firmly.
- 6). Place the cap on your child's head, and she is ready for trick-or-treating fun.
